Barack, Messiah

It is too easy for a talk radio host to ask "What has Barack Obama accomplished?"

People who don't understand the concept of a Messiah nevertheless are prepared to annoint him.

Search for Obama Messiah and

Obama Messianic

If only the other candidate could be an anti-Obama, and champion the idea that government is the part of the problem and less government in people's lives is part of the solution. McCain believes in a government that should get involved deeper in into the lives of people when you look at what he's actually been doing in the Senate as opposed to what he's been talking about since he was trying to court Republican votes in the primary.

The best writing on this comes from Pat Toomey in the Wall Street Journal from March 2007. The McCain Record: Arizona's senior senator is not a consistent defender of individual freedom.

Another strange but expected trend in talk radio is the connection that people make to those entranced by Obama's rhetorical skills with another master of the inspiring speech, Adolph Hitler. Too much History Channel or too little exposure to people who use their voice to speak in an inspiring way, I am guessing.

Connected to this Hitler reference is something almost as old on online discussions, see
Wikipedia on Godwin's Law
