malay traditional wedding outfit

Back in March 2007, I was at Old Court House, Kuching for a Bridal Fair. The organizer arranged a wedding fashion show, catering all ethnics in Malaysia.

It's quite rare to see Malay traditional outfit on the runway. So, I thought I could share some photos I took back then with you. Furthermore, I don't think I have posted those shots before. Hehe.

The photos were taken with kit lens - EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and zoom lens EF 90-300 f/4.5-5.6. I haven't got EF 50mm f/1.8 back then.

I like the smoke at the background, making her entrance looks much grander.

I haven't got a chance to shoot a Malay wedding before, but I'm sure it'll be quite an experience if chances arise in future.

yes, i do

Short Talk: It was election day on 8 March, and we may be witnessing a political tsunami this time round. Unfortunately, I didn't set a good example to follow, as I didn't register myself to vote. I should have done it earlier.

I received a red bomb, aka wedding invitation, last month, and here some of the many shots I took on that day.

I think I seriously need a couple new gears to improve my workflow, to increase my efficiency, and to produce better quality.

one delievered

I've been quite busy lately, and still am. I've just got one task checked out from the to-do list, had it delivered. And I have quite a few more to go. It's hard to catch breath again.

I'm sharing a few photos I took end of last year. It was my first trial on wedding banquet with my EF 50mm F/1.8 lens.

Embrace.

Toast.

Smile.

Oh, in case any of you wonders, the wedding was between Kim and Enoch. :-)

first red bomb in 2008

It's the first wedding invitation for year 2008.

I can see the trend coming along among my old classmates now, and I expect to see few more coming in within this year or next.

A friend has also announced her wedding date this year end.

Again, a heartiest congratulation to the happy couple. :-) (Now, I can use my U2 jacket in this occasion.)

On the other note, I tried shooting with the new Sto-fen Omnibounce diffuser I bought last week. I still can't get the lighting right. Just look at the shots below.

350D + 18-55mm + Speedlite 580EX II with Sto-fen. (Shutter: 1/125 sec. Aperture: F/5.6. ISO: 400. Flash Compensation: 0)

350D + 18-55mm + Speedlite 580EX II with Sto-fen. (Shutter: 1/125 sec. Aperture: F/5.6. ISO: 400. Flash Compensation: 0)

There was no adjustment on the level or curve done on the pics above, and the ones below.

Both shots were taken using 590EX II with both the diffusers I bought. Again, no adjustment were done in PS.

Also, I noticed that when shooting with Stofen, I mostly need to increase my flash compensation to +1/3 step to get better lighting exposure. While shooting with Lambency (aka Tupperware, or the Cup), it hasn't shown that kind of weakness.

I bought Stofen because there are a few photographers using Sto-fen even on outdoor night events, so I thought it could come in handy when I shoot outdoor events, where there are no ceiling to bounce off the flash. But, it isn't working that way so far. Stofen is also less bulky than Lambency, it gives you better convenience to carry it around in your gadget bag.

Has anyone had experience using Stofen before? Do drop me your share of experience here. Thanks!

november bomb.

Short Note: Coco is sick =( Let us all pray for her recovery.

Red bomb galore. In the month of November, I have received two bombs already. It's wedding season now, bridal studios are packed with appointments, wedding registration counters have long queue.

And I have two weddings to attend to, and to cover.

First of the two would be this coming Sunday - 11/11/2007.

Second invitation card comes with personal touch. The dark gray envelope suggests something special, and the content didn't disappoint.

There is a seal on the invitation card, with initials of R and M engraved on the seal.

I thought this seal as a touch of class, very nice.

24th November is the day for the second wedding invitation.

And in case you didn't know, the second wedding invitation card was 100% custom, hand made one. Nice, isn't it?

Congratulations to Eric & Hui Chin, and Robert & Michelle!

the wedding: Steven & Helen

" Short Note: I am getting sick of my current CRT monitor, it's going hay-wired. I'm looking into possibilities of bringing in a new asset to the family here. Hopefully, that will increase my productivity as well. "

Storming in for the bride.

More update to come. Thanks for keeping close with the updates.

" End Note: I know I haven't been updating a lot lately. Please bare with my inactivity for the recent weeks. I've been juggling between my job, and the photographs. I shot all the photos in RAW, hence I needed a lot of time to do the post-processing, as well as the filtering. Some more, it was Chinese New Year week for the past week. I am not gonna spend my Chinese New Year sitting in front of my PC, doing the photo processing as well as updating blog only right? Update shall resume its frequency right after this (barring any sudden call up for travelling). "
