phua chu kang -- day 2

Day 2.

I was there again, only this time, I was there much earlier than I was the day before.

Made it into the mall around 3:15pm, 45 minutes before the show starts.

Uniquely Singapore, Uniquely yellow.

People have been waiting for the contractor to make his appearance in the mall eagerly. They waited, and waited. Anxiety was running around in the blood.

Seriously, how did they get up to the top floor in the first place? It isn't opened to the public access yet, no?

The children waited. They sure were excited.

And, finally, he has come. Phua Chu Kang has arrived!

They love Phua Chu Kang so much that they even argue over it, (at least they don't fight over it right?)

"I tell you, the boots are banana yellow! Not lemon yellow!"

So, Phua Chu Kang made his appearance on stage.

"Please make way.. thank you.."


The kids were all excited and they just rushed up to the stage, ignoring all sort of warnings beforehand. Ah... Kids...

So our Mr. Phua just had to shoo them off, the PCK way. Hehe.

So, after he got rid of the intruders, PCK started greeting the crowd, saying hello here and there.

"Hi everyone, I'm Phua Chu Kang."

"Hi everyone up there!"

So the show has begun. What happened next?

Now, Day 1.

Singapore's tourism ambassador Phua Chu Kang (or Gurmit Singh) was in town for the Uniquely Singapore weekend, which happened here at the Spring shopping mall. The event was three-day-long, but Phua Chu Kang was only featured on Saturday and Sunday.

I was there both on Saturday and Sunday.

I was held up with some issue in the afternoon, and when I got there, the show had already started. All I could see was heads blocking my view, standing in front of my line of fire. I couldn't get good shot.

Shortly after I arrived, Samantha Poh was on stage. (I missed out on Nana's turn to answer some questions off stage).

When Samantha meets Phua Chu Kang...

She stunned Phua Chu Kang himself by calling him "Chuuuuuu..". Phua Chu Kang's comical reaction drew laughter from the crowd. People just adore him.

See how far off I was from the stage? I shot all the photos in Day 1 using my EF 90-300mm USM.

Funny jokes and comical act were PCK's trademark and specialty. But, he surprised the crowd with his sensible vocal. He performed Westlife's Mandy. He sure is talented. His song would have captured all the girls' hearts out there, provided him not using the wig, the mole, and the yellow boots.
